Ridgway, Colorado, is a rural town that partnered with the Colorado Department of Transportation on a construction project to improve the State Highway 62 corridor that runs through it and to revitalize the downtown Historic Business District. After a national competition was held to select artists to design and fabricate street furnishing elements that enhance the town’s creative identity a collection of six different designs were chosen to be installed along the highway, with the intention that their bright colors and unusual shapes grab people’s attention and have them want to stop in town.
