Muttville, located in San Francisco, focuses on senior rescue dogs who are less likely to get adopted. Offering a new model for shelters, the dogs stay in a house-like environment without cages where they can wander from room to room helping them to socialize and stay adoptable. Opened in 2024, visitors to their new facility are greeted by three large Bone Benches along the exterior sidewalk. The seat dividers, each uniquely shaped like a specific dog breed’s head, were required by The City to prevent unwanted sleeping.
Additionally, the interior courtyard features three dog benches with flowing tails and upright ears.
